Camps, canoeing, climbing, cooking a whole trout backwoods style over a campfire, leaking tents, getting my Chief Scout's Gold Award, only finshing one out of the four District Capers that I've taken part in, need I go on?

my memories are, being made to wear shorts on every camp, being wet on every camp, the leaders up till all hours drinking on every camp, having to make shoe stands out of bamboo on every camp, big al taylor making yorkshire puddings on a camp fire(no mean feat)making bivowaks that would fall down at the slightest suggestion of wind, dots cooking, the campervan me,father, dave gregg and dave franklin turned up in on the first reunion camp and of course dc's dodgy campfire singing, truly fun times

Activities, weekend camps and so on with Ken and Anne Oldfield, Dick Prior, John Smith, Neville Broadbent ... ; the church hall and then the new scout HQ built by the parents' committee; weekends we organised at Hardcastle Crags; climbing and fell-walking ('mini-expiditions') in the Lakes, the Peak District and the Dales - the latter cut short due to leaky tents - we got drenched. It was fun. I do have a few photos if they are of interest to the scout group, but it was a long time ago!

I joined 'under age' about '64, just before Anne Oakley arrived, by tagging along with buddy John Cowlam. Anne had to 'let me go' for a few months once I was found out, but I rejoined with enthusiasm once 'legal'.
I must dig out my old certificates to revive reliable memories; camping competitions, swimming galas (at Slaithwaite baths; the only Hudderfield pool with WARM water!).
Most of my friends were made through the 9th; I lost touch with John Cowlam and John Ireland, but kept

Fabulous times with the ventures in the 1980s. Dot and Dave Foster were fantastic leaders. Venture night was one of my most anticipated nights of the week. Thanks to Dave and Dot's encouragement, I attained my Queen's Scout Award, and then participated in an international scout summer camp exchange in the USA, where I met my husband.
Friends and names I remember from ventures - Carol Duggan, Joanne Miller, Andy Coles, David Firth, Eddy Roebuck, Andy Foster, Neil Pashley, Tricia Black .... to

Scouting is still a big part of my life here in the USA. My husband and I are involved with our local scout group and hope our children (3-year-old triplets!!!) will find as much enjoyment in scouting as we have done.
